CARES Act Funds

CARES Act Update

91ÖÆƬ³§ has completed, signed, and submitted the Department of Education Certification and Agreement and assures that 91ÖÆƬ³§ will use no less that 50 percent of the funds in accordance with Section 18004 of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act which provides Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

91ÖÆƬ³§ received a total of $1,319,348 in CARES Act funds for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus (including eligible expenses under a 91ÖÆƬ³§â€™s cost of attendance such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care.)

91ÖÆƬ³§ began distributing the $1,319,348 of the CARES Act funds to 91ÖÆƬ³§s beginning May 18, 2020 with additional distributions July through September 25, 2020. An application process to distribute unclaimed funds was opened on September 21, 2020. As of September 25, 2020, 1,648 91ÖÆƬ³§s claimed $1,284,390.

91ÖÆƬ³§ opened the application to all degree-seeking 91ÖÆƬ³§s enrolled on September 21, 2020.  Following guidance from the Department of Education and Section 484 of the Title IV Higher Education Act of 1965, 91ÖÆƬ³§s were excluded if they:

  • are enrolled in exclusively online courses,
  • are enrolled as a dual credit or dual enrolled 91ÖÆƬ³§,
  • are not making financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
  • are international 91ÖÆƬ³§s or those falling into another equivalent category (e.g. Deferred Action Against Childhood Arrivals), or
  • had not submitted a current 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid to the college.

Under the final distribution, 91ÖÆƬ³§ awarded qualified 91ÖÆƬ³§s $500.00 on a first come, first served basis until all funds were dispersed.

As our final report, as of December 21, 2020, $1,382,029 was disbursed to a total of 1,843 91ÖÆƬ³§s.  (The $1,319,348 in CARES Act Grants for Students was disbursed in addition to $62,681 from the institutional portion of the CARES Act funds).

The Federal Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act provides a variety of financial supports to individuals. 91ÖÆƬ³§ received CARES Act funds to distribute directly to 91ÖÆƬ³§s experiencing financial challenges due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

These funds are provided to help you cover expenses related to food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care. These funds are not part of your Crowder financial aid award, but you may spend these funds on tuition and fees.

91ÖÆƬ³§, following all guidance from the federal Department of Education, is distributing funds to you as a qualifying 91ÖÆƬ³§. To qualify, you must currently be eligible for federal Title IV financial aid and must meet enrollment requirements for the Fall 2020 semester.  You may also review the 91ÖÆƬ³§Â CARES Act Frequently Asked Questions for more information.

The funds will be processed by 91ÖÆƬ³§, in the next few days, through our partner, BankMobile Disbursements. These funds will be distributed by Bankmobile based on your refund preference you have already established this semester.  Once you receive the funds you may find more information about BankMobile at: .
